Road to Our Ancestors
Morning — Meet Up & Depart from Accra
Guests will meet at the selected pickup points before setting off toward the Central Region. The journey begins with a brief welcome and overview of the day, giving everyone time to settle in, connect with the group, and prepare for a meaningful experience centred on Ghana’s history, heritage, and ancestral journey.
Late Morning — Assin Manso Slave River Site
Begin at the Assin Manso Slave River Site, an important stop along the route enslaved Africans were forced to travel toward the coast. Guests will learn about its history, visit the Slave River where captives were made to bathe, and reflect on the stories, memory, and resilience connected to the ancestral journey.
Early Afternoon — Cape Coast Castle & Door of No Return
Continue to Cape Coast Castle for a guided tour through the male and female slave dungeons, historical chambers, and exhibitions. Guests will learn about the transatlantic slave trade before walking through the Door of No Return, one of the most powerful points of the experience and a lasting symbol of separation and remembrance.
Mid-Afternoon — Lunch & Reflection
After the castle experience, enjoy lunch at a selected restaurant in Cape Coast. This part of the day gives guests time to pause, reflect on the stories encountered, ask questions, share thoughts with the group, and take in the coastal atmosphere before continuing to the final heritage experience of the day.
Late Afternoon — Elmina Township Tour
Continue to Elmina for a guided township tour exploring the character and everyday life of this historic coastal community. Guests will discover its fishing culture, colourful harbour, local streets, colonial-era influences, and community stories while learning how Elmina’s maritime history, traditions, and heritage continue to shape the town today.
Evening — Return to Accra
After the Elmina township experience, the group will begin the return journey to Accra. The ride offers time to rest, reflect on the day, and take in the scenery along the way before arriving back in the city for drop-off at the designated pickup points.
